Zhejiang Museum of Natural History
Zhejiang Museum of Natural History is separated from Zhejiang Museum in 1984, now located on the Teacher抯 Road in Hangzhou. It is a building with a floor space of 3000-odd square meters where specimens are collected. The new building with a floor space of 2000-odd square meters began to be open to the public in January 1998, housing more than 100,000 specimens of animals, plants, aquatic animals and water plants, and amphibian life-forms. Among them, some are most precious and valuable, like the fossils of a pterosaur, one of the few complete specimens of its kind that could be found in China. In addition, there are large numbers of specimens of animals and plants of Grade One and Grade Two under the state protection. Many specimens of animals and plants that are now extinct were collected when the museum was first set up.
